Hello friends!
Because every day is like Christmas with SSP...
I'm
delighted to extend this invitation to join us for a celebration of
lighthearted, holiday joy....in August!!
This has been such a fun convention to organize -- I can't
wait to share all the great surprises our SSP elves and I have wrapped up for
you! No promises yet, but we may even
have a special guest or two!
Our theme was chosen to coincide with the 70th Anniversary
of the iconic movie, White Christmas, with gorgeous costumes designed by Edith
Head...then, when searching for exhibits happening in 2024, we serendipitously
discovered the Edith Head: Hollywood Costume Designer exhibit at the Oklahoma
Museum of Art had been rescheduled from 2023 to the summer of 2024!
More "Christmas Magic" occurred when we were
contacted by our fabulous host hotel, the Renaissance Waterford, after being
referred by another one that hadn't worked out!
I'm excited to say it's the perfect setting for our SSP holiday festivities
-- beautiful but welcoming, with an enthusiastic, friendly staff ready to greet
us! We've negotiated a very special room rate including breakfast...
reservation information will be in our Mistletoe Magic and the Movies
registration announcement, coming soon!
We're waiting for a few price quotes before finalizing the
registration fee, but our attendee rate is expected to be in the $650 - $660
range. This will include a dessert
reception, lunch, two dinners and fun movies --
plus an exclusive holiday wardrobe of four to five fashions designed to
fit Gene, table gifts, and more surprises! (Fashions may fit other 16"
dolls but there are no guarantees).
And...the shining star atop the tree? The unveiling of our
stunning, much anticipated SSP Mistletoe, Magic and Movies fashion collection!
Once registration is opened a non-refundable $200 deposit
will hold your spot, and I'm happy to discuss payment requests.
We will also offer a
not to be missed optional tour to the lovely OCMA for a special tour of the
Edith Head exhibit! Included is a self
guided tour of their gorgeous Chihuly glass collection and beautiful artwork
throughout the museum. Other wonderful tours are in the works and will be
announced with registration. If you are
planning your trip before then, I would recommend your coming on Friday August
9th and staying through Tuesday August 13th, as our tour on Saturday will start
early, and the Tuesday tour will be fascinating!
We'd love to have you join us for this festive celebration
of friendship and fabulous fashions...in SSP style!! Our limited spaces fill quickly, so please
don't delay in sending your inquiry if you would like to attend!
For those who can't be with us in August, we have a small
number of absentee packages available so you'll not miss out on the gorgeous
fashions and fun! If you have not yet contacted me to reserve your absentee
package, please do so soon!
The phrase "I'll be home for Christmas" has
special meaning for me this convention...Oklahoma is my home state where I
first discovered my love for Gene! It was also the destination for my first
Gene convention in 2001, where many of us formed dear friendships resulting in
years of cherished memories! Thanks to everyone going 'home' with me again... I
look forward to our making new memories at SSP 2024!
