and gown in white vintage jacquard with a delicate shimmering floral design.
Curved
soft pleats beautifully highlight the bodice, while the front of the skirt is framed
by pleats draping in folds of graduating lengths. The sides and back of the skirt trail across the floor.
Topping
the majestic gown is a sweeping coat in the gorgeous jacquard, highlighted by a
magnificent “mink” collar and cuffs.
Accessories

Inspired
by a coat and gown worn by Joanne Woodward in the 1960 film, From the
Terrace. The costume designer was William Travilla, who had to convince Ms.
Woodward that she could pull off such high fashion looks.
It was
reported that over $70,000 was spent on Ms. Woodward’s costumes, with fabrics
costing $30 - $50 per yard. Fabrics were described as being imported from
France and Italy, including silks, wools, brocades, and iridescent velvet.
Travilla, as fashion designer, also created a line of clothing based on the costumes worn by Ms. Woodward in the film.
