As striking as a magnificent sculpture, this beautifully formed ensemble appears sculptured in cloth, as the classic hounds tooth design shimmers on silver and navy blue suiting.

Featuring a large cape collar curved over the shoulders and exaggerated sculptural curved hips, the stately coat tops a formfitting sheath dress that hugs every curve.

Completing the handsome look is a large detachable pussy cat bow in navy taffeta nestled in the coat collar at center front, or accenting the dress alone. For a different look, the dress also has a removable blue-grey fur collar.

This exquisite tea-length frock in icy aqua silk chiffon features a softly draped bodice with Dolman sleeves, a formfitting tightly shirred midriff, and a dropped waist to accentuate a curvy silhouette.

The full, tightly gathered skirt falls in soft pleats, flaring at the hemline. A petticoat gives structure to the skirt.

The plunging neckline is edged in luscious pale silver fur, which is repeated in a stole that can be worn or carried over one’s arm.

Inspired by the gown and coat created by Joanne Woodward for the 1958 Academy Awards ceremony, at which she won the Oscar for her performance in The Three Faces of Eve

Materials for the ensemble were reported to have cost $100. The actress reportedly commented that she thought Liz Taylor would win, so didn’t want to invest a lot of money in a dress, as she thought no one would see it!

The extraordinary ensemble is now in the collection of the Atlanta History Museum.

A stellar gown for a star-studded, iconic premier…

This glamorous gold gown of glistening lame chiffon features a draped harem hemline puddling on the floor. Exaggerated shoulders and sleeves, and the fitted cinched waist are embellished with embroidered jet beaded roses, adding a dramatic edge to the otherwise soft, flowing look.

Beautifully accenting the plunging “V” neckline is a sculptural gold and jet beaded necklace. Jet crystal earrings and elegant black shoes complete the look.

The tightly gathered taffeta skirt has an off-center opening that curves to simulate a petal at the hemline.

The custom embroidered gown is beautifully complemented by a dramatic cocoon jacket lined in soft green, to repeat the shades of leaves on the bodice.

A distinctive three-piece leisure ensemble featuring a brightly colored array of custom embroidered blossoms on Royal blue silk, accented with delightful details including hand embroidery, French knots, and beading.

Rows of white paillettes and beads encircle the bottom of the midriff-baring top and the waist of the full-length skirt, which is slit up the center. Matching shorts are also included for romps in the sun.

Finishing touches to this festive “play” suit are matching blue Italian inspired platforms edged in gold, and pearl earrings.

A majestic silk velvet ballgown, perfect for a special gala!

The elegant gown features a fitted bodice trimmed in “ermine”, with “ermine tails” falling over the shoulders, and a full bouffant skirt with a dramatic train.

Crystal earrings, bracelet, and velvet shoes accessorize the regal look.

Inspired by a gown designed by Walter Plunkett, and worn by special guest Vivien Leigh to the Jr League Ball in Atlanta, in December 1939.  The ball was part of the 3-day festivities surrounding the Gone With The Wind premiere.

Entre la Grande

Our favorite star will make a Grand Entrance – and exit --wearing this gorgeous coat and gown in white vintage jacquard with a delicate shimmering floral design.

Curved soft pleats beautifully highlight the bodice, while the front of the skirt is framed by pleats draping in folds of graduating lengths.  The sides and back of the skirt trail across the floor.

Topping the majestic gown is a sweeping coat in the gorgeous jacquard, highlighted by a magnificent “mink” collar and cuffs.

Accessories include opera length gloves, “diamond” earrings, and taffeta shoes. An optional crown will be offered as well.

Inspired by a coat and gown worn by Joanne Woodward in the 1960 film, From the Terrace. The costume designer was William Travilla, who had to convince Ms. Woodward that she could pull off such high fashion looks.

It was reported that over $70,000 was spent on Ms. Woodward’s costumes, with fabrics costing $30 - $50 per yard. Fabrics were described as being imported from France and Italy, including silks, wools, brocades, and iridescent velvet. 

Travilla, as fashion designer, also created a line of clothing based on the costumes worn by Ms. Woodward in the film.

The skirt is in a silver variation of the resplendent watercolor jacquard, reminiscent of French florals of long ago. Inspired by a Norman Norell gown designed for Gertrude Lawrence, worn in the 1941 Broadway play, Lady In The Dark. Norell was with the Hattie Carnegie design house at the time. Ms. Carnegie thought the gown was too extravagant and demanded it not be done… Norell refused and was ultimately dismissed.

This beautifully detailed dress is just the ticket for a matinee performance!

Slightly curved raglan sleeve seams add interest to the bodice, which features a fitted midriff with a seam that curves up under the bust. The upper bodice, with a deep V neckline and gathering above the upper midriff seam, gives the impression of being draped. Reflecting the soft look, gathers are repeated on the inside sleeve seam. The tea-length skirt drapes in soft pleats to the hemline.

A black velvet bow at center front adds an elegant touch.
